Does Direct TV have a few free preview channels every month like Dish does?

I just purchased high speed (cable) internet. Will I automatically get basic cable TV for free now?

My friend says that since I am paying for high speed cable access I will be getting free basic cable television and that I don’t have to pay ‘extra’ for the TV cable service.

I was told cable companies charge you extra because they ‘already know’ that you are getting Television basic cable for free when you sign up for high speed cable internet.

Is this true?
